The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is currently accepting resumes for the position of Full-time Permanent Homeward Bound Daycare Early Childhood Educators – Qualified.
The Homeward Bound ECE’s will be reporting to the Daycare Supervisor. The Homeward Bound ECE’s are accountable to provide care and supervision to children ages 0-12 years at the DNFC – Homeward Bound Daycare in a family age group setting through the planning and implementation of a program conducive to their emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development.
Schedule:
Regular hours between 8:00am and 5:15pm Monday – Friday.
This position is a regular full-time employment opportunity and is eligible for group retirement, extended benefits, and paid time off.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:
Cultivate authentic relationships with the children, families, co-workers, and community
Document children’s activities appropriately and monitor progress
Interact with parents on a regular basis
Monitor children – daily attendance, maintain appropriate notes on children, etc.
Cultivate a safe and inclusive environment
Supervise children in both indoor and outdoor settings
· Plan and implement emergent curriculum which supports self-actualization, development of all domains, songs, finger plays, creative dramatic play, social/emotional regulation, and science experiences at levels applicable to the group as a whole and the individual children, while being a co-learner with the children
· Assist in the set-up and daily inspection of the playground to facilitate the individual needs of the children and meets the safety requirements of the program
· Clean, disinfect and maintain all toys, equipment and materials
· Work in unison with the Resource Consultant to meet individual needs
· Keep the Daycare Supervisor apprised of all changes or updates relating to all children, both verbally and through written records
· As a team, help to plan and implement field trips
· Provide a safe, healthy and happy environment for children through interactions showing respect, care and affection that meets needs and builds self-concept
· Engage in and supervise all activities and routines in accordance with the Centre policies and procedures
· In consultation with the Early Years Supervisor, liaise with parents in matters concerning their children
· Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education, and in good standing with the College of ECE’s or equivalent is preferred. Consideration will be given to grade 12 Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with relevant lived experience.
Possess valid First Aid with infant/child CPR or ability to obtain
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check is a requirement of the employment offer.
Up to date immunization record including TB Screening
Awareness & appreciation of Indigenous culture
Indigenous language an asset
Experience working in emergent curriculum, planning, implementation, and evaluation; program reporting and accountability
Must have the ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, work independently and as a team, with minimal supervision
Work Conditions & Remuneration
Working in the classrooms within the Daycare
Daily outdoor activities and occasional offsite programming
$22.00 -$30.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience
