Homeward Bound Transportation Driver/Janitor – Summer Contract Position

The Transportation Driver/Janitor is integral in providing transportation support to the clients of the Homeward Bound Program. This position also is responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness of the daycare shared space as well as the residential side of the Homeward Bound Program.

Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch for 35 hours per week. This contract is scheduled to end August 31st, 2024, however, may be extended until incumbent returns.

Job Duties Include but Not Limited To:

• Pick up and drop off clients and dependents of the Homeward Bound clients based on appropriate booking of transportation

• Maintain accurate travel and maintenance logs according to all DNFC policies

• Clean and disinfect surfaces

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors

• Clean and disinfect bathrooms

• Remove garbage and recycling

• Other Janitorial duties as required


• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

• Valid Ontario G Driver’s License or equivalent with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract

• Acceptable Criminal Reference Check Vulnerable Sector will be a requirement of the employment offer

• Must have valid First Aid with infant/child CPR or ability to obtain

• Ability to lift and push up to 50lbs

• Attention to detail

• Ability to work with various cleaning products and occasional bodily fluids in relation to cleaning

• Ability to cultivate authentic relationships with the children, families, co-workers, and community

• Demonstrate a high understanding of confidentiality

• Must have the ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, work independently and as a team, with minimal supervision

• Awareness & appreciation of Indigenous culture is an asset

• Indigenous language is an asset

Work Conditions & Remuneration

• Working within a residential space

• Daily driving of company vehicle within town limits

• $19-20.00 per hour
