Indigenous Women’s Navigator
The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is currently accepting applications for the position of Indigenous Women’s Navigator. The Indigenous Women’s Navigator will provide direct transitional services and supports to the Indigenous women participants of the Dryden Urban Indigenous Homeward Bound (DUIHB) project to provide necessary supports in order to achieve individualized goals including education and career.
SCHEDULE:
Regular full-time hours. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, 35 hours per week. Some flexibility to meet program needs.
This position is a regular full-time employment opportunity and is eligible for group retirement, extended benefits, and paid time off.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:
Prepare and oversee facilitation of intake and referral processes
Develop and maintain client files inclusive of all required documents in addition to maintaining individual case notes
Act as a resource person or advocate for clients in obtaining internal and external services
Develop and execute outreach plans to promote the program and recruit new clients
Provide recommendations for improvement, development, and/or expansion of the program to ensure the clients needs are addressed
Support reintegration of clients to school, work, and social activities
Work collaboratively to coordinate and co-facilitate the delivery of activities and supports needed, relevant to but not exclusive to culture, childcare, skills enhancement, education, and housing support
Assist in all aspects of the project deliverables as directed
QUALIFICATIONS:
College Diploma or University Degree in social services or a related field. Lived experience may be considered equivalent
Possess current First Aid / CPR certification or be willing to be certified
Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and an acceptable Driver’s Abstract will be a condition of the employment offer
An acceptable Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) – Vulnerable Persons will be a condition of the employment offer
Crisis Prevention Intervention training is an asset
1 year experience front-line support work experience or client facing role in a community setting
Current knowledge in best practices in trauma informed mental health (ex. Crisis de-escalation, risk assessment, anti-racism, gender-based violence, suicide prevention, etc.)
Expert organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task
High-level experience planning and organizing interest-based learning
Excellent administrative, organizational, time management and reporting skills
Excellent communications skills – written, oral, and listening
Excellent public speaker/ presentation skills
Experience with Microsoft Suites
Ability to speak/understand Ojibwe/Oji-Cree is an asset
Knowledge of traditional Indigenous culture is an asset
WORK CONDITIONS & REMUNERATION:
Working in a shared office environment
$50,000 annual remuneration
