The Indigenous Mentor is to provide support and services for gender and sexuality diverse (2SLGBTQQIA+) urban Indigenous people of all age groups, to enhance existing services from a culture-based framework, and to support a trauma-informed approach to community building and inclusion.

Schedule:

Regular full-time hours. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, 35 hours per week, some flexibility to meet program needs.

This position is a regular full-time employment opportunity and is eligible for group retirement, extended benefits, and paid time off.

Duties and Responsibilities include but is not limited to:

· Develop a strengths-based action plan to support Two-Spirit and Indigenous 2SLGBTQAI+ people that is informed by their needs;

  • Supports Two-Spirit and Indigenous 2SLGBTQQAI+ people by providing one-to-one and participant-based services;

  • Promotes awareness and ensure access to the program through a variety of outreach efforts and promotional activities;

  • Facilitate land-based activities

  • Support clients in the administrative processes for applications related to the name change, sex designation, and gender affirming surgeries

· Coordinate relevant project activities that provide ongoing Friendship Centre and community-based supports for Two-Spirit and Indigenous 2SLGBTQQAI+ people;

  • Integrate Indigenous cultural approaches to the planning and delivery of the program;

· Build strategic relationships with local organizations and schools to foster alignment between them and the Friendship Centre in supporting Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ people;

· Review existing tools and wise practices used to support Two-Spirit and Indigenous 2SLGBTQQAI+ people and integrate these into daily activities;

· Promote healthy lifestyles as guided by traditional teachings through integration with other Friendship Centre programs

· Regularly provide reporting updates and maintain client files in alignment with DNFC policy;

  • Review project supportive materials provided by the OFIFC Research team;

  • Annual attendance of knowledge-sharing gatherings – to identify and share wise practices across the province;

· Other responsibilities, as required;



Qualifications:

· Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Psychology, or related program. Equivalent experience may be considered.

· Lived experience as Two-Spirit and/or LGTBQQIA+ identified Indigenous person is an asset, applicants are encouraged to self-identify with their application;

· Proficiency in applicable software programs (e.g.: Microsoft Suites)

· Satisfactory vulnerable sector check will be a requirement of the job;

· Thorough understanding of the issues and challenges of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community

· Lived/work experience and/or education in working with young people in a supportive or mentoring role is an asset;

· Community experience that can include organizing events, holding traditional roles, and volunteering;

· Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with emphasis on the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach;

· Interest and/or experience in storytelling, arts-based activities such as crafting, visual art, theatre, singing, dancing, etc. and experience in planning activities and documenting events and activities in a variety of formats;

· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team;

· Excellent organizational skills and excellent networking and facilitation skills;

Work Conditions & Remuneration

  • Working in a shared office environment

  • $44,000-$47,000 annual remuneration

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk. The Accounts Payable\Receivable Clerk, under the direction of the Finance Director, will primarily be responsible to assess both accounting and administrative controls and prepare reports for the management team regarding corporate compliance and internal policies and procedures. This role will also ensure organization utilizes ethical accounting practices and standards.

Job Duties

  • Assess both accounting and administrative controls and assisting with reports for the management team regarding corporate compliance and internal policies and procedures.

  • Perform posting duties and appropriate tracking for accounts payable in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all invoices are correctly issued in a timely manner and payments are processed appropriately.

  • Ensure organization utilizes ethical accounting practices and standards.

  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities,

  • Coordinate financial activities, including accounts payable, assembly and data entry, recording cash receipts, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations.

  • Assist in the preparation of the operating budget.

  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting files and records.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma/certificate in business administration, management, finance, or accounting, equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Acceptable Criminal Background Check is a condition of employment.

  • Experience providing administrative support in a busy office environment.

  • Understanding of Indigenous Culture and perspectives.

  • Ability to speak and/or understand Ojibway or Oji-Cree is an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Suites, notably Excel, and Sage 50.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Accurate and efficient typing skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.


Work Conditions & Remuneration

  • Working in a shared office environment

  • $35,000-$42,500 annual remuneration
