Early Childcare Worker Support - Summer Employment

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is currently accepting resumes for the position of Early Childcare Worker Support. Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor, the Early Childcare Worker Support aids the regular daycare staff in providing care and supervision to children ages 0-12 years in a family age group setting. To be eligible for this position, applicants must be above the age of 18. DNFC will be hiring up to six (6) Early Childcare Worker Supports.


Schedule & Intended Duration:

Variable hours between 8:00am and 5:15pm Monday – Friday.

This is a Temporary Full-Time position intended to start June 10th until August 30th, 2024. Individual consideration may be given to the needs of the successful candidates.


JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:


  • Cultivate authentic relationships with children, families, community, and coworkers

  • Provide a nurturing safe environment for the children in the daycare

  • Collaborate with other staff to create activities for the children based on an emergent curriculum

  • Ensure the classroom is kept clean, and all programming materials being used are in good condition

  • Aid regular staff with daily classroom routines such as – meals, diapering, clean up, story time, safe drop off/pick up etc.

  • Follow all daycare policies and procedures

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completed Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) is required

  • Experience in directly caring for children in daycare, classroom, summer camp environment, or similar locations is an asset

  • Applicants who are enrolled in a relevant college or university program will be given preference

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, with minimal supervision

  • Must have First Aid with infant CPR or ability to obtain

  • A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check, Vulnerable Sector, is a requirement of the employment offer.

  • Up to date immunization record with a 2-Step TB test or ability to obtain

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Awareness & knowledge of Indigenous culture and foods is an asset

  • Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-Cree is an asset


Work Conditions & Remuneration

  • Working in the classrooms within the Daycare

  • Daily outdoor activities and occasional offsite programming

  • $22.00 -$30.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience
